The Turkish visa on arrival
Previously, it was possible to buy a visa for Turkey upon arrival at the airport: a ‘visa on arrival’. Since 1 november 2014, however, it is no longer possible to buy a visa at the airport in Turkey. Now the Turkish Government wants you to buy an e- visa before you go on board of your plane. If you don’t have an e- visa you are not allowed to go on board.
What is an e-visa for Turkey ?
To prevent the long lines at the customs at the Turkish airports the Turkish Government introduced the e-visa for Turkey. This electronic visa replaces the visa that was issued by the customs at the airport or border crossing. It is no longer possible to buy a ‘visa on arrival’. If you are travelling to Turkey in 2019 then make sure that you have your e- visa at hand when you go on board of your plane.
The applying for a visa for Turkey online is fast and easy. You can fill out the inquiry form on this website (e- visums.nl ) in Dutch and receive your e- visa, after payment, usually the same day by email. You must print out or download your e- visa on your phone or tablet. Upon arrival in Turkey the customs checks your e- visa and you can enter Turkey. A great progress compared to the old procedure!

Passport sticker or sticker visa for Turkey
A passport sticker or sticker visa, the so called ‘ regular visa’ for Turkey, can be requested if you do not meet the requirements for an e- visa for Turkey. For example, if you want to stay more than 90 days in Turkey is not enough that you only have a e- visa.
This variant of the visa you can request at theTurkish consulates. Make an appointment with one of the employees of the Turkish consulates.
Please note that the procedure of applying for a visa sticker takes longer than applying for an e-visa and that the visa is more expensive!!
